Getting a negative listing on sites like rip off report can happen to the most upstanding companies and individuals. All it takes is 15 minutes and anybody can slander your online reputation for the world to see.
With many of these ripoff report sites, anybody can claim they have gotten ripped off by companies and individuals while remaining comfortably anonymous.. Even if those allegations against you are not accurate, those listings will not be taken down by the admin of the site.
Seeing a negative listing about you right there on the first page of Google is like being punched in the stomach. In many situations its’ impossible to find out where the ambush is coming from.Could this be an actual customer?- Or many an employee or competitor? What comes natural is to immediately send a rebuttal and respond to these allegations on those forums. In most cases a response is a really bad idea. Here is why:
The more you interact with these sites the higher the chances are that you inflame the situation. There have been attempts made to force these sites to take down the negative listing with a lawsuit. However, these sites argue that they are only providing a platform and are not to be held responsible for the content that is being hosted on those sites.
By posting your comments you are increasing the amount of user generated content and activity on this thread. Search Engines like Yahoo consider this increased activity as a sign that this URL might be of interest and rank the listing higher on search engines. Google in particular considers this posting as a sign that there is an interest in this article. In addition to that chances are that the person who posted the negative comments will reply to your rebuttal, which makes often boosts the rankings of those negative listings and makes the job of suppressing the listing harder.
What can I do to remove a rip off report?
Once you have a listing on RipOffReport you cannot get the listing taken down by the administrator. Even if the individual who posted the article decides to delete the listing. In most cases the listing cannot be removed even if the issue has been resolved.Â
If I can’t remove a ripoff report, what can I do?
It is possible to remove a Rip Off Report  from the first page on Google, Yahoo and Bing. Our strategy involves the following steps.
Step 1: We start by developing various positive URL’s. We build small sites, business listings, article syndications and press releases, all designed to fill the top pages on Google and other search engines and displace the negative listings from the top pages on search engines. However in almost all cases this strategy by itself requires an additional step in order to remove the ripoff report from the top on Google, Yahoo and Bing. The new listings need to be promoted so they out rank and push down the rip off report.
Level 2: After about six to eight weeks many of the newly created profiles should start to rank in the first pages on search engines. Depending on the competitiveness of the top pages some of them have already surpassed the rip off report and essentially pushed the listing downward. But, In order to remove the rip off report from the first page on Google we promote listings that are below the rip off report. As soon as these URL’s over rank the rip off report we focus on a new set of positive URLs that are not yet above the rip off report until we see the ripoff report listing drop down to page two or beyond.
